Last weekend the People's Committee of Lam Dong province held a press conference to announce the Vietnam Jazz Heritage Festival 2026, or VJHF 2026. The festival runs for three consecutive days, from 6 to 8 November 2026, in Xuan Huong - Da Lat ward, Lam Dong province, as part of the 11th Da Lat Flower Festival.
What stands out for anyone who builds stages is that the festival is not held in a single spot. The three nights take place in three different spaces: an open square beside a lake, a central street area, and an architectural compound. Three sites mean three different staging and sound problems.

A look at staging, sound, lighting, LED screens and crowd handling
This section is general trade knowledge, not a description of the equipment used at the festival above.
Jazz asks for something different from pop or EDM. A jazz ensemble, especially a big band of close to twenty players, is largely acoustic: brass, woodwind, a jazz kit, piano, double bass. Each instrument needs its own microphone line, so the mixing desk needs enough channels and enough clean preamp gain. A big band commonly needs three to four times the channel count of a four-piece pop band.
An outdoor stage beside a lake or on a square brings two difficulties. The first is wind. Condenser microphones on horns and piano are sensitive to it, so they need wind screens and tend to be placed closer than usual. The second is reflective surfaces. Stone paving and water send sound back towards the stage, which easily produces mid-range ringing. The usual answer is to fly the line array higher, angle it down into the audience, and split the coverage so less energy hits the surrounding buildings.

On LED screens, a live-instrument show usually needs side screens so the far audience can see a player's hands, not just a backdrop running graphics. That means the screen layout has to leave room for cameras and for lighting, and avoid LED light firing back into the performers' faces. Pixel pitch follows the distance of the nearest viewer: with an audience standing around four metres away, P4 or P3.91 suits better than P10.
Da Lat in November is cold and prone to drizzle. For equipment, the concern is condensation inside LED cabinets and in cable connectors. Common practice is to wrap connectors, raise power racks off the ground, start testing early in the afternoon so the gear warms up, and keep covers ready for the control desk.
Handling a crowd on an open square is not the same as in a stadium with seating. Without seats there is no fixed count, and people move freely. The usual approach is soft barriers in horizontal rows to create side exits, delay speaker clusters for the far field, and one clear lane so an ambulance can reach the foot of the stage.

Notes for the audience
The opening night starts at 5 pm on 6 November at Lam Vien Square, so it is worth arriving early, since central Da Lat during the Flower Festival is usually crowded and parking is hard. The 7 November night is in front of Rap 3/4 and is easiest to reach on foot from the Hoa Binh area. The 8 November night at HAUS Da Lat is for invited guests, so follow the organisers' official channels for how to register. Gate times, parking maps and any schedule changes come from the organisers, so check again before you travel.
